Elangeni Resort & Hiking Trail

Elangeni is situated on the banks of the Elands River, on the N4 outside Waterval Boven in Mpumalanga. Only 3 hours from JHB & PTA.

ACCOMMODATION:

Klipspringers Camp:

  • There are 6 x 6 Bed wooden huts with bunk beds & mattresses.

  • Bring own bedding/ sleeping bags & pillows.

  • Electricity.  Kitchen with basic facilities: fridge, 2 plate stove and cooking utensils: 

  • Pot, pan and kettle. Under cover braai facilities.

  • Ablution block with hot & cold water showers etc.

Koedoe Camp:

  • There are 10 x wooden huts with 2 separate rooms. 3 Beds in each room (bunk beds & mattresses) Each hut has a bath room with shower, toilet and hand basin.

  • Bring own bedding/ sleeping bags & pillows.

  • Electricity.  Kitchen with basic facilities: fridge, 2 plate stove and cooking utensils: 

  • Pot, pan and kettle.

  • Under cover and open braai facilities.

  • REFUNDABLE Key & breakage deposit to be paid on arrival: 00 per HUT.

Overnight Hikers Camp- Sonbesie:

  • Our well planned, completely renovated, hiker’s camp accommodates 32 hikers in 4x separate rooms with bunk beds and new thick mattresses.

  • Hikers will enjoy stunning panoramic views from our big wooden deck!!

  • There are 2 separate bathrooms with hot showers & flush toilets and basins.

  • The Bush Kitchen has basic pots, pan, kettle, two-plate gas stove.

  • Wood is provided. There are braai facilities and an enclosed boma.

Ribbok Chalets: Our 8 X Double Storey En Suit Chalets:

(ALL 8-BED) each with 2 separate bedrooms upstairs (both rooms with two single beds) Then there are 2 extra sleeper coaches down stairs. There are 2 Bathrooms, lounge and fully equipped kitchen. Braai facilities outside.

  • One of these chalets is wheel chair friendly.

  • Maximum of 8 persons per unit.

  • REFUNDABLE Key & breakage deposit to be paid on arrival: R500 per chalet.

Ribbok House:

  • 4 sleeper. Two bedrooms – one with double bed, another with 2 singles. One Bathroom, fully equipped kitchen, small lounge with DSTV 

(ALL 8-BED) each with 2 separate bedrooms upstairs (both rooms with two single beds) Then there are 2 extra sleeper coaches down stairs. There are 2 Bathrooms, lounge and fully equipped kitchen. Braai facilities outside.

Otter Chalets:

  • 4 sleeper. Two bedrooms – one with double bed, another with 2 singles. One Bathroom, fully equipped kitchen, small lounge with DSTV 

  • There are 3 X Stand Alone self catering chalets scattered under big shady trees and some are next to the Elands River.

  • 2 X Under shady trees, have 2 bedrooms (one room with double bed, the other room has 3 single beds), 1 bathroom, lounge and fully equipped kitchen and braai facilities. 

  • The 3rd Stand alone is situated close to the double story chalets. 

  • REFUNDABLE Key & breakage deposit to be paid on arrival: R500 per chalet.

Camping:

  • 50 X well maintained caravan and tent sites with power points and there are two neat ablution facilities.

  • The 2 ablution blocks have hot and cold water, electric lights and power points are available.  We also have a wheel chair accessible bathroom with shower, hot and cold water and electricity point.  

  • There is a wash up area and laundry (We do the washing, costs apply)    

The Hiking Trail:

  • This is a circular Two Day Back Pack Trail you will never forget!!

  • The trail covers a distance of 25 km in the majestic mountains, ravines with mountain streams and beautiful waterfalls.

  • Indigenous forest and stunning panoramic views.

  •  A must hike for all keep hikers and nature lovers!!!

  • The first day is 14 km from the base camp(Resort) to the overnight camp, and the following day 7-8 km back to the base camp passing 2 stunning waterfalls.

General / Extra Activities:

  • We do have a stone build hall (games room) with a pool table, dartboard, table tennis, DSTV.  

  • There is a cold water swimming pool, trampolines and playground for the smaller kids.

  • Tubing in the river in rainy season. (Prior bookings essential).

  • Basic Meals can be arranged for our hikers for Friday night on arrival, it must be pre booked in advance.

  • There is a kiosk at the reception where you can buy bread, milk, ice, wood, cool drinks, sweets etc. We do not sell any meat.
