Forestiva farm is a private nature reserve along the Hennops River and features mountain terrain, grasslands and river frontage

ACCOMMODATION:

  • RIVER COTTAGE

    • The self-catering thatched roof cottage sleeps two

    • has a large lounge and dining, kitchen, bath and bedroom with wooden floors, just a stone throw from the river

    • Expect total relaxation with the sounds of the river and the natural beauty of the Magaliesberg Biosphere.

    • The Cottage is far removed and secluded with your own fenced in private space and entrance.

    • You have access to 350 ha of African wilderness where you can go hike, mountain bike, climb, fish, kayak, bird and game watch in a private game reserve.

    • As a guest you will have access to the Lapa which features a hot tub, fire pit, braai space, teppanyaki and large dining table situated close to the cottage.

    • The Lapa is a shared area and might be used by hikers as a starting and ending point of the trails.

    • RATES:

    The River Cottage allows a maximum of 2 dogs. R50 per dog per day. Dog permit can be purchased in our online shop.

    • The self-catering off grid luxurious mountain retreat has a large open plan lounge with fire place, dining and kitchen space.

    • It features two bedrooms with large glazing and en-suite bathrooms, an extra guest toilet and an outside shower with heated splash pool.

    • The spacious layout encompasses a sprawling open plan that seamlessly flows outwards onto wooden decking and into the mountain grasslands.

    • The house epitomizes an indoor-outdoor living, with its open sun deck accessible through stacking and sliding doors.

    • Here, guests can revel in the vastness of the landscape, lounging around the sun deck, braai, or unwind in the splash pool.

    • Expect total relaxation surrounded by wildlife and scenic mountain views nestled in the natural beauty of the Magaliesberg Biosphere.

    • The Mountain Retreat is far removed from any houses with your own private hiking trails and easy access to the top of the mountain with 360 degree scenic views. You have access to 350 ha of African wilderness where you can go hike, mountain bike, climb, fish, kayak, bird and game watch in a private game reserve.

    The house is entirely off-grid, powered by a solar system and rain water is collected. It has a separate drinking water tank filled with spring water.

    To conserve energy, guests are kindly requested only to use heavy-drawing appliances such as hairdryers or dishwasher during daylight hours.

    NOTE: Forestiva Farm is a nature reserve, there is a possibility you will encounter wildlife, insects, reptiles, etc which we have no control over.

    We are accessible by regular car, but we recommend a vehicle with higher clearance for ease of travel. Sports cars are not advisable.

    This is for those that love it rough and tough. Challenge yourself to a survivor camp night. No comfort features. Bring everything you need. Leave only your foot prints behind.

HIKING TRAILS

We are part of the Crocodile River Reserve
Welcome to the Forestiva Farm Hiking Trails where we have safe and unspoiled bush trails for day visitors

Hikers will enjoy river walks under trees and open grasslands with wildlife and breathtaking views of the Crocodile River Reserve and the Hennops River Valley.
All marked trails are fairly wild and rated moderate difficulty with a few technical sections in between

  • Hennops River Walk – Blue Trail – 4km

    • Easy river walk to the confluence of the Crocodile and Hennops River. There and back. Numerous indigenous wildlife species occur on the Kingdom Trails property, including kudu, impala, duiker, klipspringer, wildebeest, giraffe, zebra, buffalo, hippo, crocodile and if you are lucky you might see some leopard and smaller cat families.

  • Lalapanzi Loop – Green Trail – 5km

    • Skips the river walk. Moderate loop with a 160m elevation from the river to the top of the mountain and back down. There are a huge variety of indigenous plants, shrubs and trees and the bird life is exquisite.

  • Hennops Loop – Yellow Trail – 5km

    • Starts with the river walk. Moderate loop with a 160m elevation from the river to the top of the mountain and back down. Please do not feed the monkeys or leave rubbish around that the baboons can find.

  • Crocodile Loop – Red Trail- 12km

    • Exploring most of the farm, Hennops River, Crocodile River and mountain top.

What you may need:

A day backpack, hiking shoes and a hat.
• Sunblock, insect repellent.
• A liter of water for every 2 hours.
• Bring a jacket & torch for sunset walks.
• Light snacks

• Binoculars.

DAY VISITORS:

R100 per Person

• Free entry for all kids, teenagers and dogs

• Day Pass / 6:00 till 15:00.

• Sunset / 16:00 till 1 hour after sunset.

Dogs must be kept on leads at all times.
