NUM NUM LODGES

These stunning luxurious Self-catered Lodges are situated on the High Five Hiking Trails farm, close to Machadodorp, in the heart of the Skurweberg Mountains in Mpumalanga, +- 2 and half hour from JHB and PTA.

As the name suggest, these lodges are a renovation of an old actual outpost used by President Paul Kruger who stayed here for a while before and during the Anglo Boer war. Since then, it fell into different hands, among others his son, then it was abandoned for many years after which wood cutters then occupied it.

The original old Oregon wood floor still carries the testimony hereof in silent expression. The previous owner then rescued and restored it and brought it back to life by adding some living spaces and functionality.

When the current owners took over a few years ago, another rescue and restore program was launched and today this “old lady” stands proud again! A mixture of old-world charm and modern amenities make this a wonderful stay for the modern travel seeking silence in history filled surroundings.

KRUGER LODGE:

ACCOMMODATION & AMENITIES:

Bedrooms/All en-suite. (Sleep 12 in total)

  • All rooms have high quality bedding and towels are provided.

  • 4 x En-suite rooms sleep 8 guests in total

  • 1 Bedroom downstairs– Sleep 2. (Can be a double bed or 2 single beds)

  • 1 Bedroom downstairs – Sleep 2. (Double bed)

  • 2 Bedrooms upstairs – Sleep 2 each. (Single beds)

  • 2 x Wing rooms

  • The old stables were converted into two beautiful old feel rooms and named after two South African race horses of yesteryear:

  • Yatagan Room:  Twin en-suite;   Jamaican Music Room:  Double en-suite

  • The Kitchen: (There is no oven)

  • Electricity – Eskom power.  Fully equipped with cutlery, crockery, pots and pans

  • Fridge/Freezer, Microwave, Stove but no oven.

  • There is a fully furnished dining room, lounge, andenclosed veranda room with indoor fireplace.

  • RATES:

    Kruger Lodge: R5100.00 minimum per night – including 1 – 6 persons.

    R850.00 per person per night thereafter.

    WING ROOMS: RATES: R850.00 per person per night.

NUM -NUM LODGE: ACCOMMODATION:

• two en-suite rooms where the beds can be made up as either 2 single beds or 1 king-size bed.

• It has, like Kruger lodge, the most delightful mattresses and linen

• White face and shower towels.

• There is a well-equipped open-plan kitchen with a 5-plate gas stove, an electric oven, indoor braai, and dining room.

• Above the open-plan kitchen area is a large lazy loft / playroom area with its own bathroom.

• Extra mattresses can, for example, be placed here for children, or it can be used as a yoga floor or whatever.

• This would, for instance, be a lovely living area for rainy weather or even for “long stay” guests.

RATES: R3400.00 minimum for this unit per night (for guests 1 to 4)

Num-num lodge is always booked as a unit (1 to 4 guests R3400.00)

For each additional guest thereafter for both lodges’ minimum, it is R850.00 pppn.

These rates are all self-catering, but we can assist with meals upon prior request.

Always minimum 2 nights’ booking, and 3 or 4 nights minimum for long weekends (as with the camps).

Midweek special: And pensioners

Monday evening to Wednesday evening (holidays excluded):

R650.00 pppn, minimum 3 guests, minimum 2 nights.

  • Various well designed and clearly marked day circular hikes to choose from.

  • Excellent Bird watching – more than 200 species already identified.

  • Sundowners, relaxing, game viewing from your stoop.

  • Catch and release fly- fishing, bring your own fishing rods.

  • Mountain biking more than 40km dirt roads – bring your own gear and bike.
