SEDIBA HIKING TRAIL
Sediba Hiking Trail is situated 6 km from Memel, a tranquil village in the corner of the North Eastern Free State. It is approximately 240km from Jhb, 47km from Newcastle and 60km from Vrede.
The name Sediba means “fountain water” and gives a good indication of what can be expected on the trail. The grasslands and Seekoeivlei Wetlands are host to an estimated 350 bird species (230 species already recorded of which 15 are Red Data Species)
The green rolling hills, numerous picturesque mountain streams and weathered rock krans make the area around Memel interesting for the hiker.

Sediba Hiking Trail has been well laid out to take full advantage of this beautiful area of the Eastern Free State. Day 1 of the trail is a more moderate walk, whereas Day two is well suited for the novice hiker who is unsure of their fitness level.

The Sediba Hiking Trail is well worth a visit and once you have visited it, it is sure to become a favourite. It is important to take your time with your walk though, as the trails offer something very special that will be remembered for some time to come.
