GUEST FARM & HIKING TRAILS

LOCATION:

Set in the Marico area of the North West Province, near Zeerust, this beautiful trail offers the hiker more than just a hike, it offers an opportunity for a relaxing weekend with up market accommodation in close proximity to the Groot Marico River.

One advantage this venue has for visitors from Gauteng, is that it is close to home and if one travels viaMagaliesburg, Derby and Koster, the road is toll free and it is only 200 km from Johannesburg and Pretoria

ACCOMMODATION

  • TWO WOODEN CHALETS: perched on a high bank overlooking the riverine andlush forest which conceals the stunning Tufa waterfall.

  • A covered Lapa is built next to the river with a viewing platform that looks down on the waterfall.

  • Each chalet accommodates 4 adults + 2 kids – 1 x double bed, 2 x ¾ beds, 1 x sleeper coach. These chalets are fully equipped – just bring own towels.

  • Braai facilities.  Only charcoal allowed, no wood fires please – fire precaution.

  • RATES: R 1200 per chalet per night.

THE ROCK CHALET:

  • This is a beautiful, fully equipped, very private chalet for 2 persons only.

  • No electricity, all appliances (stove, fridge) run on gas and solar lighting, no electrical plug points.

  • Ideal for honeymooners and for a couples with pets.

  • RATES: R750 per night.

HIKING TRAILS:

  • There are 2 X day trails at the moment of 5 and 7 km.

  • A longer 14km will soon be finished.

  • The trails are centered on the river with its beautiful shady forest, cascades and pools. Indeed, if you are a hiker that enjoys swimming in natural rock pools and enjoying the invigorating feel of the cascades of water as they sweep over you, then you will enjoy this walk

IMPORTANT INFO:

  • Bring own towels, charcoal and wood. Guests in the wooden chalets are only allowed to braai with charcoal.
  • A refundable Key &Breakage deposit of R300 per unit payable on arrival.
  • There is very limited cell phone reception – please make sure you understand the road map and directions.
  • Visitors will receive detailed maps on how to get there and of the hiking Trails.
  • Bring good hiking shoes, binoculars, your bird list and books.

THERE IS A LOW NOISE POLICY ON THIS FARM AND IN OUR CAMPS SO OUR GUESTS CAN ENJOY PEACE AND SERENITY. BIRD WATCHERS WILL BE SURPRISED OF THE HUGE NUMBER OF BIRD SPECIES THEY WILL BE ABLE TO IDENTIFY.
